Wildlife Nannies Series II - Behind the Scenes
Sixth Entry - Hanging out in Daytona Beach and St. Augustine
Daytona Beach - spring break and NASCAR races and we find it hilarious! You can cruise around on the beach - Daytona Beach - by car. Of course we have to do that as well as shoot some great pics of our cruise. Where else would you find a speed limit on a beach?
The next stop is St. Augustine, the oldest city in the United States. You would think you're in Spain. St. Augustine has the oldest wooden school house in the States and - as they say - a lot of ghosts. But that is no surprise: haunted graveyards all over the place.
We're having a night cap at a bar with a band playing straight out of a ZZ Top look-alike contest. We enjoy the Southern sounds in a subtropical climate.
On the following day we're with Melanie Cain-Stage at her H.A.W.K.E. Rehab Center, a facility dedicated to the rescue of birds, mammals and reptiles.
It surely has to be one of the most beautiful locations so far with gnarly trees and birds. We would not be surprised if Scarlett and Rhett in their coach suddenly materialized.
To end a perfect day, that very night two of Melanie's birds were released and we had the chance to film the big farewell. It wasn't easy for Melanie as she spends a lot of time with her animals, helps them, raises them and teaches them how to hunt and how to fly. But after all she knows that it is for the best of her birds, so she happily lets them fly off.
